Carcassonne festival is a multi pronged festival in which almost all forms of performing art is showcased. It is one of the most important summer festivals in France. The music and theatre festival is characterized by the performance of all the big stars of the field.

The festival is conducted in the magnificent hilltop city of Carcassonne. This is an ancient city which is fully fortified. This medieval citadel with its 52 watch towers and the double walls of the city take us back to the ancient battling days. Now the whole city stays as a marvelous monument. The Carcassonne festival organized by the city brings music lovers from all over the world to this place every summer.

The local people take this festival very seriously and rejoice throughout the one-month long festival that provides them great opportunities to witness the performances of some of the masters in music and other performing arts. Since the program list contains all kinds of music, dance and theater, together with circus programs, the festival caters to all ages and temperaments. Everyone finds something or the other to keep them entertained during this festival.

The classical as well as modern music and dance performances are included in the Carcassonne festival. Every artist of consequence gets a chance to exhibit his or her skills. To the great delight of the locals, the rock music as well as the French metals is incorporated into this wonderful festival. This forms an excellent platform for operas and the numbers that are performed every year usually display great variety and artistry.

The 2015 Carcassonne festival is the 10^th anniversary of the program. There are more than 120 performances scheduled from 6July to 1 August. Like the previous years, this year also there is a long list of famous performers, who are expected to be present. The program list is not yet revealed completely but it is sure to contain some of the biggest names. All the same, one name that sets the hearts of the music lovers racing is already announced – Johny Hallyday.

Different performances are to take place in different parts of the ancient fortress city. These programs are free for everybody and so this music and dance festival becomes extremely inclusive. The Carcassonne festival is an occasion for great celebration for the people of the city. They consider it a hallmark of their civilization and culture. Sure enough, the festival brings a swarm of tourists and visitors to the city. Through the festival the ancient city is once again celebrated all over the world.
